Benefits of Using A Floor Scrubber

Auto Scrubber

If you’re the owner of a large warehouse or workshop floor, then you probably spend an immense amount of  time and labor on keeping it clean. Why push around brooms, mops, and buckets of water when you could invest in a Floor Scrubber? (Sometimes also known as an Auto Scrubber!)

7 Do's and Dont's from Bongani, our Workshop Manager

Floor scrubbers are complicated machines, with a variety of moving parts that can easily be damaged or broken if the necessary steps aren’t taken to prevent them. Just like with your car, if you ensure that its serviced, cleaned and maintained, then it will last significantly longer!

  1.  Always sweep the floor before you using an Auto Scrubber. Solid particles or large pieces of litter often get trapped in the vacuum pipe, which not only reduces efficiency but also damage your vacuum motor and pipes. Our supplier CEMSA has an informative video on this here. If you’d like to save time sweeping, then take a look at our Push Sweeper!
  2. Only use low-foam detergents in your Auto Scrubber. Using incorrect detergents can create foam in the recovery tank which could cause damage to your machine’s motor. MaPa’s locally manufactured Heavy Duty Auto Scrub is made with this in mind.
  3. On battery versions, avoid charging them unnecessarily. Over or under-charging reduces the value of your cycles. Always run your machine until the battery is empty, and then charge it to full again before use.
  4. On cable versions ensure that your cable and plugs are in good condition. Avoid using coiled extension leads or undersized power cables as this could lead to the fuses blowing.
  5. By washing out your recovery tank and filters with clean water at the end of every day you can avoid the build up of bacteria and bad odour. This will also improve your machine’s performance. Avoid washing your auto scrubber with a pressure washer, the risk of wetting essential components is too high and you could damage your machine.
  6. You can invert your squeegee blades both back to front and left to right. This means that they can be rotated up to four times, this maximizes their lifespan and is essential to the machine’s functionality.
  7. Never over-adjust the resistance of the scrubber brush on the floor. Minimum resistance is all that’s necessary to clean your floor, by putting too much pressure from the brush onto the floor you could blow a fuse.
