  1. What is your budget?

You may be inclined to go for the “cheapest” option, however you should keep in mind that in a car wash environment the machines and vacuum cleaners often run for the whole day. Household grade or entry level equipment is not manufactured to work these sorts of hours and will fail quickly, resulting in costly repairs or replacement.

Selecting the right industrial equipment for the job will save you money and frustration down the line. A provision in the budget must also be made for regular servicing of the equipment as well as any spares that might be required. Wear and tear items include; Nozzles, Guns, Unloaders, Chemical Injectors, Filters and Seals.

  1. Will you require double or single wash bay?

This will all depend on the number of cars that you will service on a daily basis.

  • Do you have single phase or 3 phase power available?
  • Do they prefer stationary or mobile units?
  • Will they service only cars or trucks as well?
  • Do they require Low Water Protection or Delayed Total Stop?
  • Do they require foaming option?

There are many different high pressure machines available, from portable units to free standing and wall mounted machines, each with their own particular features and limitations. Generally speaking, portable units are not recommended in a car wash application and are used when the budget is the only consideration. This is because the limited features of this type of machine do not provide the same protective features that are available on the free standing and wall mounted units.

One must consider that these devices are there to protect and extend the life of the machines working parts, improving reliability.

Our car wash systems are designed to provide fast and efficient cleaning and will not damage sensitive surfaces when used correctly. Nearly all car washes these days use cold water machines as modern technology has produced some excellent cleaning detergents. These units are the most cost effective in this type of application. Hot water machines are however available.

Items such as overhead swing booms and gun holders are available in both single and double format for use with wash and foam guns. These top quality booms are spring loaded and manufactured in stainless steel.

When and how often should my HP pump oil be changed?
It is imperative to change your HP pump oil after the first 50 hours of operation to flush out any manufacturing sediment. Thereafter regular oil service intervals of 300 hours are recommended.

What checks should I perform when changing my HP pump oil?
Always check the colour of the oil in your pump. White discolouring indicates the water is leaking through the seals or pistons, contact an authorised service centre for inspection.

How do I check the oil level of my HP pump?
Your pump comes equipped with both an inspection window and an oil level dipstick. The oil level in the inspection window should be clear and filled to half. On average a pump requires +/- 500ml (1 pint) of oil.

Any special precautions I should take when changing my HP pump oil?
On some of the pumps, beware of the gasket behind the sump plug, if it gets lost or damaged, your pump may leak oil.

Sanifilter is the antibacterial treatment of filters with silver ions(Ag+ ions) that reduces the bacterial charge of the suction air which cause unpleasant odours.

Clean filter the outside with a small brush or blow air through from the inside of the filter. Avoid washing the filter as this will strip the filter of its antibacterial coating.

The nozzle size is determined by the rated pressure (bar) and flow rate (litres per min) of the high pressure machine.

Choosing the incorrect nozzle size can cause considerable damage to your machine in the long run.

An undersized nozzle will stress the unloader as the excess water will be forced through the by-pass causing wear on the unloader, this could also allow the operator to over adjust the pressure of the unit.

An oversized nozzle will cause a drop in pressure of the machine. Over time, the water will slowly wear out the nozzle, creating a larger opening, therefore it is strongly advised to replace your nozzle with every service as a worn out nozzle will cause a drop in pressure.

If you have a battery version floor scrubber, never charge the batteries unnecessarily. Avoid under or over charging. If you are using lead acid batteries make sure they are always correctly topped up with quality water. Run the batteries down to a reasonable level as indicated on the machine panel before you charge them again. Use the correct charger. All of the above will prolong the lifespan of the batteries

Washing out the recovery tank and in tank filters with clean water at the end of the day will prevent bacteria build-up and bad odour from occurring, and will improve the machine’s performance.

The squeegee blades can be inverted both back too front and left to right and therefore can be rotated up to 4 times giving maximum lifespan to this important part of the machine. Remember to keep them clean to avoid unnecessary wear to the blades. The same applies to the scrubbing brush, keep it clean!

Water Softener is a ready to use multi component chemical, that stabilizes the action of mineral salts which cause hardness in water thus extending the life of the heating coil in the IPC hot water high pressure cleaners. It protects the heating coil from limescale and corrosion.

Without the use of Water Softener, the warranty on the heating system of the high-pressure cleaner becomes invalid.

The IPC hot water high pressure machines are fitted with a anti scale tank and dosing system that is self-regulating by the machines internal controls.

MaPa Cleaning Technologies Standard Conditions of Agreement

  1. The Customer agrees that

(a)    this Agreement represents the entire Agreement between the Customer and MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC (hereinafter called MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC) and that no alterations or additions to this Agreement may be affected unless agreed to by both parties, reduced to writing and signed by the Customer and a duly authorised representative of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC;

(b) this Agreement will govern all future contractual relationships between the parties;

(c)    this Agreement is applicable to all existing debts and future     

debts between the parties;

(d)   this Agreement is final and binding and is not subject to any

suspensive or resolutive terms or conditions;

(e)    any conflicting conditions stipulated by the Customer are

expressly excluded;

(f)     these terms supersede all previous conditions of Agreement without prejudice to any securities or guarantees held by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC and

(g)   these terms apply to all agents and subcontractors of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC.

2.1        This Agreement only becomes final and binding upon receipt and acceptance by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC at its business address

2.2       Any order only becomes final and binding on receipt and acceptance of such order by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC at its business address per clause 2.1.

  1. The signatory as duly authorised representative of the Customer hereby binds himself / herself in his / her personal capacity as surety and co-principal debtor jointly and severally for the full amount inclusive of interest and costs due to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC and agrees that these Standard Terms and Conditions will apply in the exact same way to him / her.
  1. The Customer acknowledges that it does not rely on any representations made by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC in regard to the goods and/or services or any of its qualities leading up to this Agreement other than those contained in this Agreement. All specifications, price lists, performance figures, advertisements, brochures and other technical data furnished by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC in respect of the goods or services orally or in writing will form part of the Agreement

5.1       The Customer agrees that neither MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC nor any of its employees will be liable for any innocent misrepresentations made to the Customer.

5.2       The Customer bears the responsibility to determine that the goods ordered are suitable for the purposes of its intended use immediately upon receipt thereof.

5.3       The Customer agrees to pay all additional costs resulting from any acts or omissions by the Customer including suspension of work, modification of requirements, failure or delay in giving particulars required to enable work to proceed on schedule or requirements that work be completed earlier than agreed.

5.4       MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC reserves the right to provide alternative goods of the same quality and quantity at the prevailing prices to those ordered by the Customer should such goods be superseded, replaced or it’s manufacturing is terminated.

6.1       All quotations will remain valid for a period of 14 days from the date of the quotation or until the date of issue of a new Price List, whichever occurs first.

6.2       All quotations are subject to the availability of the goods and/or services ordered and the correction of bona fide errors by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC and the prices quoted are subject to any increases in the cost price, including but not limited to currency fluctuations, before acceptance of the order without prior notice to the Customer.

6.3       If the Customer disputes the amount of increase, the amount of the increase may be certified by any independent auditor and such certificate shall be final and binding on the Customer.

6.4       The Customer confirms that by signing a delivery note of goods received or services rendered the goods or services stipulated on such Tax Invoice duly represent the goods or services ordered by the Customer at the prices agreed to by the Customer and that the goods or services were inspected and that the Customer is satisfied that it confirm in all respects to the quality and quantity ordered and are free from any defects.

6.5       Notwithstanding the provisions of clause 1 above, all agreed variations to orders, in writing, shall be binding and subject to these standard terms and conditions of Agreement and may not be revoked by the Customer.

6.6       MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC shall be entitled in its sole discretion to split the delivery / performance of the goods or services ordered by the Customer in the quantities and on the dates it decides and dependent on the availability of goods and services.

6.7       MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC shall be entitled to invoice each delivery / performance actually made separately.

6.8       Any delivery note or waybill or job card  signed by the Customer or an independent third party engaged to transport the goods and held by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC shall be prima facie proof that delivery was made to the Customer.

6.9       The risk of damage to, destruction or theft of goods shall pass to the Customer on despatch of such goods and the Customer undertakes to comprehensively insure the goods until fully paid. MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC reserves the right to recover insurance premiums from the Customer for such ordered and uninsured goods.

6.10     Delivery, installation and performance times quoted are merely estimates and MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC will take all reasonable precautions to perform in terms of such quoted times however MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC will not suffer any prejudice or incur any liability if such quoted times are not adhered to and the Customer will grant MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC any indulgence necessary in order to duly perform.

6.11      If MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC agrees in writing to engage a third party to transport any goods, MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC is hereby authorised to engage a third party on the Customer’s behalf and on the terms deemed fit by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC, however MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC will not be held liable for any damages or non-performance by such third party. The Customer accepts full liability for such transport cost incurred by the use of any third party to transport any goods.

6.12     The Customer indemnifies MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC against any claims against MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC that may arise from such agreement in terms of clause 6.11.

6.13     Repair times and repair costs quoted are merely estimates and MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC will take all reasonable precautions to perform in terms of such quoted times however MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC will not suffer any prejudice or incur any liability if such quoted times are not adhered to and the Customer will grant MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC any indulgence necessary in order to duly perform.

6.14     A quote card must be signed by the Customer in order to confirm the Customer’s instructions prior to any repairs in order to authorise such repairs, failing which no repairs will be undertaken by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC.

6.15     Travelling to the Customer and labour in relation to any repairs will be for the account of the Customer and will be quoted and charged as per the Standard Rates of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC, available on request.

6.16     Any goods handed in for repairs may be sold by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC in order to defray the cost of such repairs if the goods remain uncollected for 30 days of the repairs being completed and the Customer, despite MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC’s reasonable efforts to to contact the Customer has failed to collect such goods and/or failed to pay for the repairs conducted.

6.17     All goods taken on demonstration or consignment basis by the Customer will be deemed to be sold if such goods are not returned within 7 days (in the case of goods on demonstration) or within 120 days (in the case of goods on consignment) of issue and in its original condition, in its original packaging and with all the accessories and manuals intact and such a case the Customer will be liable to immediately pay for such goods in full.

6.18     The Customer acknowledges all copyrights and shall not duplicate copyrighted material and that each infringement attempt shall immediately render the full prevailing price payable to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC.

6.19     The Customer shall indemnify MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC against any claims, costs and expenses arising out of the infringement of copyright, patent, trademark or design supplied by the Customer.

7.1        Subject to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, all new goods are guaranteed according to the Manufacturer’s product specific warranties only.

All other guarantees including common law guarantees are  hereby specifically excluded.

Outside the guarantee period, parts and workmanship are guaranteed for 3 months on repaired goods.

7.2       MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC’s liability in terms of clause 7.1 is limited to the cost of repairs or replacement of faulty goods or services or granting of a credit at the sole discretion of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC.

7.3       No claim under this Agreement shall arise unless the Customer has given MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC written notice of such breach or defect, and has afforded MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC at least a reasonable opportunity to rectify such defect or breach.

7.4       To be valid, any claim must be supported by the original Tax Invoice and the original guarantee certificate which must both be returned to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC together with the goods in its original or acceptable packaging.

7.5       The Customer shall return any defective goods to the premises of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC at the Customer’s own cost and all risks for the duration of repairs remain with the Customer.

7.6       All guarantees will immediately become null and void and the Customer will have no claim whatsoever against MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC or the manufacturer should any goods be tampered with or should any seals on the goods be broken by anyone other than MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC or should the goods be used or stored outside the Manufacturer’s specifications.

8.1       Under no circumstances shall MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC be liable for any consequential damages including loss of income or profits or for any delictual damages of any nature whatsoever and however caused.

8.2       Under no circumstances shall MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC be liable for any damage arising from any misuse, abuse or neglect of the goods.

  1. Delivery of the goods or services to the Customer shall take place as far as practically possible at the place of business of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC subject to the provisions of clause 6 above.

10.1      The customer agrees that the amount due as per a tax invoice issued by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC shall be due and payable unconditionally as per the agreed payment terms applicable.

(a) Current – Cash on Order

(b) 7 Days – 7 days from statement date

(c) 30 Days – 30 days from statement date.

10.2     The Customer agrees to pay the amount on the Tax Invoice at the offices of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC or directly to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC into the nominated account.

10.3     No cheques will be accepted by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC unless by prior approval by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC and then in such case only bank guaranteed cheques will be accepted.

11.1      The Customer has no right to withhold payment for any reason whatsoever and agrees that no extension of payment shall be granted to the Customer unless such extension is formally agreed to by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC, reduced to writing and signed by the Customer and a duly authorised representative of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC and two witnesses.

11.2      The Customer is not entitled to set off any amount due to the Customer by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC against this debt unless such set off is formally agreed to in writing and signed by the Customer and a duly authorised representative of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC and two witnesses.

12.1      The Customer agrees that the amount due and payable to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC may be determined and proven by a certificate issued and signed by any duly authorised manager of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC, whose authority need not be proven. Such certificate shall be binding and shall be prima facie proof of the indebtedness of the Customer and may be used in any proceedings to proof the Customer’s indebtedness and the obtain judgement.

12.2      Any printout of computer evidence tendered by any party shall be admissible evidence and no party shall object to the admissibility of such evidence purely on grounds that such evidence is computer evidence or that the requirements of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 have not been met.

13        The Customer agrees that interest at a rate of 2 (two) percent per month  or at the maximum legally allowable interest rate prescribed in terms of the Prescribed Rate of Interest Act read with the National Credit Act, whichever is the greatest, shall be payable on any monies past due date to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC and that interest shall be calculated daily and compounded monthly from the date of acceptance of the order to the date of final payment.

14.1      The Customer agrees that ownership of the goods rendered shall only pass to the Customer when payment has been affected in full and further that if an account is not settled in full:

(a) against order; or

(b) within the period agreed in clause 10.1 above in the case of a Credit Approved Customer;

MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC is entitled to:

  • immediately institute action against the Customer at the sole expense of the Customer; and/or
  • to cancel the Agreement and take possession of any goods delivered to the Customer and
  • claim damages.

These remedies are without prejudice to any other right MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC may be entitled to in terms of this Agreement or in law. MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC reserves the right to stop supply immediately on cancellation of the agreement or on non-payment.

14.2     A Credit Approved Customer will forthwith lose this facility when payment is not made according to the conditions contained in clause 10.1 and all amounts then outstanding shall immediately become due and payable.

14.3     MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC shall be entitled to withdraw credit facilities at any time within its sole discretion.

15.1      In the event of cancellation and repossession, the Customer shall be liable to pay:

(a) the difference between the selling price and the value of the goods at the time of repossession and

(b) all other costs incurred in the valuation and repossession of the goods.  The value of repossessed or retained pledged goods shall be deemed to be the value placed on them by any sworn valuator after such repossession, and such valuation shall be conclusive proof of the value. If the goods are not recovered for any reason whatsoever, the value shall be deemed to be nil.

15.2     In the event of cancellation of the Agreement by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC, it shall be entitled to repossess any goods that have been delivered to the Customer and which remains unpaid by the due date.

15.3     In the event of cancellation of the Agreement by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC, it is entitled not to produce or supply any unmade balance of a contract and to recover any loss sustained thereby from the Customer.

16.1      All goods supplied by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC remain the property of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC until such goods have been fully paid for whether such goods are attached to other property or not.

16.2     The Customer is not entitled to sell or dispose of any unpaid goods without the prior written consent of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC. The Customer shall not allow the goods to become encumbered in any manner prior to the full payment thereof and shall advise third parties, specificallt landlords, of the rights of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC over such goods.

16.3     If any goods supplied to the Customer are of a generic nature and have become the property of the Customer by operation of law (confusio or commixtio) the Customer shall be obliged on notice of cancellation of the Agreement to retransfer the same quantity and quality of goods to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC.

16.4     The Customer agrees to accept any quantity of goods that does not exceed or fall short of the quantity ordered by no more than 5% as proper and complete performance and may request to pay MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC only the proportionate contract price for the actual quantity dispatched and received which request will not be unreasonably refused.

17        The Customer shall be liable to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC for all legal expenses on the attorney-and-own-client scale incurred by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC in the event of:

(a)       any default by the Customer or

(b)       any litigation in regard to the validity and enforceability of this Agreement.

The Customer shall also be liable for any tracing, collection or valuation fees incurred as well as for any other related costs in respect of security that MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC may demand.

  1. The Customer agrees that no indulgence whatsoever granted by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC will affect the terms of this Agreement or any of the rights of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC and that such indulgence shall not constitute a waiver by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC in respect of any of its rights herein. Under no circumstances will MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC be prevented from exercising any of its rights in terms of this Agreement.
  1. The Customer hereby consents, in terms of Section 45 of the Magistrates Court Act that MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC shall have the right in its sole discretion to institute any legal action in the Magistrate’s Court with appropriate jurisdiction. South African courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction in any litigation between the parties arising from whatsoever source.

20.1     Any document shall be deemed to be duly presented and accepted by the Customer:

(i)         within 5 days of prepaid registered mail to any of the Customer’s business or postal addresses or to the personal address of any director, member or owner of the Customer; or

(ii)        within 24 hours of being faxed or emailed to any of the Customer’s fax numbers or email address or any director’s, member’s or owner’s fax numbers or email address; or

(iii)       on being delivered by hand to the Customer or any director, member or owner of the Customer; or

(iv)       within 48 hours if sent by overnight courier or

(v)       within 7 days of being sent by surface mail.

20.2     The Customer chooses its address as set out in this Credit Application for any notification or service of legal documents or processes as his/her/its domicilium citandi et executandi. The Customer confirms that he/she/it is fully acquainted with and fully comprehend the consequences of choosing a domicilium citandi et executandi. 

20.3     The Customer herewith undertakes to within 7 (seven) days of any change in his/her/its address to inform MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC in writing of such a change or of any changes of address of its Director’s, Member’s, Owner’s or Partner’s addresses as the case may be and further to inform MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC in writing at least 14 (fourteen) days prior to the sale or alienation of the Customer’s business of such sale or alienation of the Customer’s business  any failure to comply with these provisions will constitute a material breach of this Agreement. Upon receipt of such written notification, MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withdraw any credit facility advanced to the Customer and in such an event any outstanding monies owed to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC will become immediately due and payable.

20.4     The Customer hereby consents to the storage and use by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC of the personal information that it has provided to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC for establishing its credit rating and to MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC disclosing such information to credit control companies, banks and other institutions involved in credit rating. The Customer agrees that MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC will not be held liable for the good faith disclosure of any of this information to such third parties and that no further specific consent needs to be obtained from the Customer for the transfer of such information to a specific third party.

  1. The Customer agrees to the Standard Rates, Tariffs and Price Lists of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC for any goods or services rendered, which rates, tariffs and price lists may be obtained on request and acknowledges that such rates, tariffs and price lists may change from time to time without prior notice to the Customer.
  1. Each provision of this Agreement is severable from the other provisions. Should any provision be found to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason, the remaining provisions of this Agreement shall nevertheless remain binding and continue with full force and effect.
  1. Any order is subject to cancellation by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC due to acts of God or any circumstance beyond the control of MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC, including but not limited to inability to secure labour, power, materials or supplies, war, civil disturbance, riot, state of emergency, strike, lockout, or other labour disputes, fire, flood, drought or legislation.
  1. Any order is subject to cancellation by MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC if the Customer breaches any term of this Agreement or makes any attempt of compromise, liquidation, sequestration, termination or if any judgement is recorded against the Customer or any of its principals.
  1. The Customer agrees that MAPA CLEANING TECHNOLOGIES CC will be immediately and irrevocably released from any contractual damages and penalty obligations should any event in clause 23 or 24 occur.
  1. This Agreement and its interpretation is subject to South African law.
